Since the beginning of this century there has been a dramatic increase in the number of homes that use solar energy for a portion of their electricity needs. There are various factors behind this trend; perhaps for many households the most important issue is the money that is saved by using a cheaper energy source, but environmental factors are also high on many people’s agendas. If finances are an issue then you can learn how to make a solar panel for your home by yourself.

If you have checked out the price of a new solar panel you may be aware that they can set you back upwards of $2000. This money can be made back from the savings you’ll make in the yearly electricity bills. Nevertheless, it can be a large amount for a typical family to try and save.

Instead, if you buy all the individual pieces and carry out the assembly yourself it may only cost as little as $200. This is why learning how to make your own photovoltaic panel is such a good option for many people wanting to save money.

There are various parts that you will need. Of course there are the photovoltaic cells. It is these cells that convert the sun’s rays into electricity. The basic principle is similar in nature to the process that occurs in the leaves of green plants, where chlorophyll turns the sun’s rays into energy.

You will find that the solar cells available today are much more efficient then those used just 4 or 5 years ago. Advances in solar technology are being made on a continual basis.

Apart from the photovoltaic cells you will also need wooden boards, copper wire, panes of glass, and a soldering iron to fix the parts together in a series. To store the power you generate you will need a number of 12V or 24V batteries. The actual size of the solar panel will depend upon your energy requirements.

Do it yourself solar panels allow you to save money. All you have to do is follow the plans and build them!

We are entangled in a world, which is suffering from an energy crisis of historic proportions. With the electricity costs soaring sky high we find ourselves amidst an emergency to resort to alternative energy sources. Solar energy being a very cost effective solution can go a long way to cut down the electricity costs. If you want to cut down your electricity bills effectively, then there is no better way, than to install your very own solar power DIY kit.

These kits are not costly and you only have to invest your money at the time of installation. These kits are very easy to install and to maintain. If you can spare some time you can install one Solar power DIY by yourself. As the name refers ‘do it yourself’ (DIY), you can just do it by your self. By referring to a preferred guide and purchasing some easily available hardware, you can easily assemble one solar kit for powering your appliances. Thereby you can just forget your electricity bills.

Today’s market consists of various solar power DIY installation guides. You can also find many sites in the internet showing the guidelines of the DIY kit. You must buy one which is effective and will help you to install the solar panel without any consideration. These guides will show the various components required and their installation procedures. You can easily set it up there is no need for you to be a technical expert. By following the procedure listed in the guide step by step you can install the solar panel. So you must choose a guide which will have all the details of the components required to make a cost effective solar panel.

The installation of a solar power DIY needs solar panels, charge controller, battery, generator, array DC disconnect, converter and a meter if you require to measure the amount of electricity you use. The solar panels can be bought to generate a specific amount of electricity say 50W, 100W, 150W etc according to your budget and necessity.

These solar panels can be made to produce certain voltage by fixing it in series or can produce the desired electricity by coupling it in parallel. To make the power generated flow into the battery we can use the charge controller. This charge controller also monitors the discharge of battery during night. For back up power we can use the generators.

The array DC disconnects helps us to disconnect the current generation at the time of maintenance or cleaning. This is done by disconnecting the DC power. This can be purchased at a reasonable price. As the panel produces direct current which should be converted into AC for house hold usages we need a converter. Thus this converter converts the Dc to AC. To monitor your daily usage you can just install a meter.

These components are readily available at the market and as it is only a one time investment, these are economical. These panels can last for about 30 years. You can easily install the kit by following the instruction in the manual. The light falling on the panel should be taken care of, so try not to keep it in shade.

The solar panel can run your computer air conditioner, washing machine, geyser and light and others Cost wise it is only $150. It is clean and does not produce any kind of gases nor do they produce a huge bill .You do not have to be in the dark during power cut.

In addition, they are a clean way of producing electricity without burning the precious fuels of the world. They do not generate any green house gases and help you to produce and use electricity in a convenient way, while also bringing down the escalating energy bills!

Depletion of fossil fuels have necessitated us to look for an alternative source of reliable renewable energy Solar Power Diy Partial solar electrification of your homes is achieved by renewable solar energy. For more insider tips and information be sure and check out Solar Electric Panels.

An increasing number of homeowners want to reduce their electricity costs. We always have the option of not using our electrical appliances as much as we used to, but that’s often times easier said than done. To buy solar panels and generating your own electricity is an alternative. However, what considerations should be kept in mind when buying the products of which we have little knowledge about? Now let’s examine solar panels in more detail.

A solar panel generates electricity that we can use in our homes from sunlight. The brighter the solar light is, the higher the amount of energy that it can give off. But this item is quite costly so we do not recommend that you purchase big solar panels.

Solar power is free of monthly bills, whereas, for oil or gas-based heaters, a monthly bill is paid for operating it at your home. It provides heating, cooling and ventilation, as well as additional features through your electric appliance. Citizens in many other countries often find that the authorities financially reward people to generate electricity.

When you consider buying solar panels, it is primarily important to know what your electrical needs are. Try to check on which electrical appliances you intent to power with your solar panels. Most people use the energy from solar panels in heating their water since a water heater consumes a lot of electricity. I suggest that you do the same. Try to list all the wattage rating of those electrical appliance you think the most favorable for your solar power. After summing all the wattage of your appliances, look for a solar panel that has a higher wattage. This ensures that the solar panel that you will be buying will have enough power output for your appliances.

You may want to consider the probable location of your solar panels once they are installed. You want your solar panels to have maximum light collection throughout the day. A solar tracker will provide maximum light collection, but it will be an additional expense. Also, it is electric powered so the output of your solar panels will be lessened by its own power consumption. The best thing to do here it to properly place the solar panels so that it is directly facing the sun during 9AM to 3PM when the sun is at its brightest.

In addition, try to find out the guaranteed service life of the solar panels. You are going to have to replace your solar panels after 10-15 years. Check your budget to see if buying a costly solar panel will allow you to save, since it will only last for a minimal period of time. People are greatly mistaken in believing that it’s permanent. Solar panels prove very useful as they provide essential advantages to our houses. However, many people are turned off of the idea of buying solar panels because they are rather expensive. Carefully weigh up the financial pros and cons if you’re considering investing in an electricity generator. Furthermore, be mindful not to overestimate how long your components will hold up. It is better to reap the benefit of a solar panel rather than bear the high price attached to it Build an independent energy-generating source as well as consider methods of energy cost conservation.

Solar heat panels are the wave of the future. You don’t need to pay for your electricity anymore. You can learn more by going to Rebecca Ashley’s site on buying solar panels. It may be just what you are looking for.

Do you think you are using more water than necessary? Do you really want to contribute something to our environment? The simple solution to the above questions should be to reduce the usage of water. Interestingly, you can save money on water too. This isn’t the only benefit. The indirect usage is that you are saving the environment.

A four member family approximately spends $800 on one of the basic necessities of life, water. Imagine the amount of money that is spent on water by the whole population of the world. That should be definitely a huge amount that you cannot even count or imagine and hence there is a serious requirement to save money and water. You can save money on your energy bills by following some important water and energy tips.

The first important and obvious tip is to reduce the utilization of water to the possible highest extent. Water is used in large quantities in bathroom and kitchen. You must frequently check the condition of the plumbing items. If there is any problem like leakage, get it repaired immediately without having a second thought.

The most obvious and important tip can be easily guessed. It is nothing but using less water whenever it is possible. We know that water is generally used in huge quantities in bathroom and also kitchen. The plumbing equipment must be checked regularly and if there is any breakage or if they are not in good condition, they must be repaired as soon as possible. If you are planning to travel to a different place, make a thorough check of the plumbing equipment. This does make sense as huge amount of water would be lost if there is a damage or leakage in plumbing equipment like pipes and taps.

There is an interesting personal tip which can help you to save money on water. Maintain a shorter hair and you can save water that is used to wet your hair and you can just use a small quantity of water for head baths. Moreover, you can use hair products like shampoos and gels efficiently.

Frequent showering should be avoided and also the length of shower must be kept in control. Try to avoid high flow showers which can help to save money on water.

Water is being used to generate electricity and by saving water, we are indirectly helping our government and saving energy resources like coal which are alternatives for producing electricity. Less the amount of water you are going to use, more the energy resources you are saving.

These are the important tips which can help you save money on water. You are not benefiting yourself but you are helping everyone by saving the environment. Water and energy are mutually dependent. If you are saving water, it implies you are saving water resources that generate electricity. It may not be a huge contribution but if every individual follows them, the result is definitely big. Millions of kilo watts of energy can be saved if these tips are followed by each and everyone in this world.

Spending billions to find water on other planets is not an ideal way. The optimal method is to save water in our own planet.

Have you ever wanted totally free electric for you home or office? Magnetic Energy Generator DIY kits claim to offer just that. The electric generator system is a package of very simple, easy to follow plans, that allow the user to construct their own Magnetic Electric Generator. A small magnetic generator can be constructed by anyone, even with no prior experience in as little as two hours.

You might be thinking how much does this thing cost me to make? Well the machine that i built only cost me $120 and it had enough power to run half of my house, cutting my monthly bill in two. When i build the next unit i will be able to power my entire house virtually eliminating my power bill entirely!

You also must be thinking that it takes some crazy specialized tools to make this thing… not true! All you need is some standard tools that you probably already have lying about the house like a screwdriver! The materials required can be bought from almost anywhere, home depot, costco even!

Employing a magnetic generator has distinct edges over the employment of other alternative sources of energy like solar or wind energy. The main benefit is that magnetic energy isn’t reliant on weather, where as a cloudy day can eliminate solar electricity. Another advantage is cost. Wind and sun systems are often extremely costly to install, while the Magniwork system is extraordinarily inexpensive!

Based on the experience I had building my magnetic energy generator, I would recommend the plans to anyone looking to reduce or eliminate their electric bill, or simply looking to help the environment! Magnetic energy is proving to be one of the leading sources of alternative green energy!

Never pay for electricity again, a long kept secret for generating free electricity is finally out in the open and you will never have to pay the Power Company ever again! The Magniwork System will show you how you can build you own Magnetic Energy Generator.

The Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center is the largest in the world with over 420 wind turbines. Experts maintain that the Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center can produce enough electricity to power over 200,000 homes annually. Once the energy is produced, federal, state and local governments are more than happy to buy to produced energy. Wind power electricity is not the only solution to the energy problem. Because wind is an intermittent power source it needs to be combined with other power sources like solar and even gas or coal.

Denmark and the United Kingdom have taken major steps in including wind power into their nation’s energy plans for the future. Australia has approximately 42 wind farms with it’s largest farm, Lake Bonney Wind Farm, dolling out an estimated 230 MW of power annually. Other countries stepping up to the plate include Morocco, Japan, India, Brazil and the Philippines.

Research, development and investment in wind power has primarily come from private sources. Private investment and venture capitalism has set the ball rolling with wind energy production and is now reaping the benefits of government rebates and tax breaks. Now that alternative energy has become a top focus for politicians, more money will begin to flow to implementation efforts.

More of the world can be powered by wind energy than most people believe is possible. The electricity produced by wind can not be viewed as a sole source of energy. Viewed as part of a multi approach plan to filling energy needs the power of wind generated electricity is much more apparent.

Many people worldwide are not waiting for government to make the change to alternative energy and are taking the matter into their own hands. With the use of small wind turbines many homes, farms, schools and business organizations are slashing their power bills and receiving tax and rebate credits for their contribution to forwarding renewable energy.

The power of wind energy has to be viewed on a micro and macro scale. It is easy to assume that a few massive wind farms would generate all of our power electricity. However, that is not at all where the success of wind farms lie. Many smaller organizations are installing wind turbines and generating enough energy to cover their energy needs and selling the excess energy back to the power companies.

Most people are more than a little conscious of the power crisis that we`re facing at the moment. The idea of wind and solar energy has certainly been around for a long time and some individuals have even made use of it on a quite small scale. Nevertheless, it might just be time to start thinking big with these renewable forms of energy.

Turning to Alternative Energy Sources

Even if we continue to use fossil fuels, there are so many downsides to this. Even as it`s estimated that we still have some time left on the existing fuels, they will eventually run out. They are a finite resource that we`ll certainly use up. At the moment, we are accessing the easiest sources, but soon, more work will be needed to get to the other areas that can supply us with this type of fuel.

In addition, fossil fuels are a chief issue in the current state of the environment. Whether or not you believe in global warming, there is certainly an effect on the world from the huge amount of pollutants being produced by electricity use around the planet.

There is also the economic factor to consider. Everyone was recently taken aback with just how high gas prices went around the globe. While they have stabilized a little, the cost of energy can only go up as fossil fuels become scarcer. All this leads to the perks of wind and solar power, both excellent alternative electricity sources that could well end the power crisis.

Why Wind AND Solar Power?

Quite simply, it`s pretty hard to get the amount of power needed from just one type of collector. For instance, if we use only solar panels . . . what happens when we have an extended cloudy period? And likewise, if using only wind, what happens when it dies down? It`s always good to have backup systems in place and wind and solar energy work very well together.

At the moment, wind electrcity in the United States offers enough energy to electrcity approximately 2 million homes. Studies have shown that it`s more than possible to provide for the electricity needs of the entire nation using just wind electrcity, which is also the most efficient and easily used alternative energy source.

Solar energy is very helpful, but it is also still fairly costly to install solar panels. While this will likely drop as the exploration and expertise improve, for the moment, it`s cost prohibitive (and space prohibitive!) to use solar panels to provide the entire nation with electricity. Nevertheless, many areas are doing very well with solar power, mainly those in the sunnier parts of the country and with the grouping of solar and wind, you can see that there is an alternative to the oil products at present being used.

Harnessing the Energy

More and more people are opting to add solar panels to their houses, saving on power bills and lowering their overall electricity use rate. Nevertheless, in order to really generate a dent in the power crisis, we`ll need more than just individuals working on the problem. With cooperation, it`s possible for entire towns and even cities to run entirely on renewable power sources, like those we`ve been discussing here. Envision the impact this could have on the environment, as well as our everyday lives.

Solar and wind energy are the future of electricity sources. Together, they provide the opportunity that we need to escape from the ever rising cost of fossil fuels and give us a cleaner, safer and cheaper power.

Lot’s of people these days are using solar lights rather than regular lights to illuminate their homes. Not just on the interior of their homes but on the outside as well. These small pieces of equipment are starting to pop up everywhere and they are no longer bulky or ugly looking. This is good considering the flock of buyers these days.

How does it work? A solar light is a small light fixture with a battery, a solar collector, and a small, low energy light source, like an LED or small compact fluorescent. Installation? They’re usually stake lights – something that can be driven into the ground without running wires through your garden, more technological designed ones use use a discretely placed solar collector to run to a series of lights. In a lot of cases, the entire unit is about the size of an 8 ounce cup.

Have you taken a closer look at them? ( call it a sneak preview of your neighbors yard) A typical solar light setup will have the bulb enclosed in a white or clear plastic case. There may be a case with the solar panels on the individual lights, or they may run on a string to a solar panel that’s put somewhere unobtrusive. The good news is either of these methods can get the solar lights to work anywhere around your house. None the less, you must want the solar panel facing the sun, so generally towards the south in the US. Most will run for about 4 to 5 hours off of a charge in the daytime, some can last longer. It depends on how much power they’ve accumulated during the day.

Why are they flying off the shelves? The reasons for buying these boil down to long term costs. Many of them – especially with those that have LED lighting elements – will last for many, many years, and what’s more, they don’t pull power from the house’s the electric grid. The buying cost for these effectively becomes free after the first year that they’re in your garden. This also leaves more power for things like air conditioning, which can be inevitable in the summer especially to many people with health worries.

Consider more compelling reason for their growing popularity; They’ve become more attractive; they’re no longer a geeky and bulky ugly thing that sticks out in your yard and proclaims that you’re an Environmentalist. They add style and shapeness to landscaping and can be used to light walkways at the same time. They’re gracefully compact and can work well with decks, porches and patios.

If you like creativity, then you are in for a treat with solar lights. Due to their variety, flexibility and utility, they’ve inspired a lot of creative light displays and setups. They can be used to highlight a garden for night parties, marking walk ways. They have also done well as security devices when hooked up to a motion sensor.

Understandably, due to the collapse of the housing market, a lot of home owners are trying home improvement on smaller budgets. Do you know that Solar lights are a great way to do this? They’re affordable, and they provide a solid improvement on the home, while making the garden pleasanter in the evening. Their lack of long term costs since they do not draw from the electricity grid gives them a good return on the money spent to buy them. They may not actively reduce your electric bill, but they won’t increase it.

The bottom line- solar lights are a great way to save lots of money. They are small, cheap, and efficient. They also do not take up a lot of space and are easily put up and maintained. Plus, they look pretty nice with the proper complimentary backgrounds.

A great number of people are buying these lights this summer for numerous reasons. Solar lights do not ever use power from the grid making it a cost free way to light your gardens, pathways and lawns. They also are rather convenient and can be placed almost anywhere provided there’s sunlight shinning through. Aside from this, the fact that they don’t drain power from the grid means there’s more power to go around for things like air conditioning. Not deprived use of our electrical gadgets due to cost of electricity is very important during the summer months especially for those of us who have health issues.

Have you taking a look at your neighbors homes at night lately? People’s homes are looking more tasteful with the new solar lights nowadays. Another drive in the minds of buyers is the stated fact that they aren’t as big or bulky as they use to be. They also look a lot better cosmetically and can blend in with almost any scenery.
Thermostat Timers – Install a programmable thermostat and hot water furnace timer.

Exterior – Consider installing low upkeep materials that make sense for your climate and region, such as fiber cement siding, 40-year shingles, and engineered wood framing.

by Alexandra Vrugt

During this economy crisis, we should all be looking for ways to save and preserve our finances. To be honest, we shouldn’t just stop our preservation efforts with our financial health, but we should also do all that we can do preserve the environment and the world that we live in. Taking steps to go green to help our world could result in us seeing more green in our wallets and bank accounts. Here’s how:

Hang up your wet clothes to dry them. It’s a very simple concept that can be done just about anywhere to save your family money on energy expenses. Pretty much you buy for cheap a clothesline or long rope that you can hang either outside for some free drying sunshine, in your garage, or even in a bathroom or laundry room. You can also buy for cheap any tools that you would need to put up the clothesline including a hammer and nails.

For those that don’t normally have a lot of clothes to dry anyway, hanging up your clothes could significantly reduce your overall energy bill because you would have very little use and need for your electric dryer, which can cost a lot to run. Most washing machines will spin your clothes practically dry so that when they come out, they are barely moist to the touch. If you want, spin them twice through the washer and then, put those hangers or clothespins, that you can buy for cheap at about $1 per package, to good use while enjoying a financial saving.

Walk, ride, or skateboard wherever you need to go while the economy crisis is looming. Not only will your body get all of the great advantages from this form of exercise, but you will also save money and our environment. Gas prices are ever-changing, so it can be difficult for a family to figure out their exact gas budget, anyway.

The emissions that you save the planet is as important as the finances that your family will save. To be honest, your family will see a savings almost immediately, especially if you have a larger vehicle. When the vehicle is larger it requires more gas, which is more money spent on fuel, and a higher gas budget. Eliminate the need to research or drive around trying to find gas that you can buy for cheap by using your “pedal power”.

Recycle and reuse the basics like store shopping bags. Use them for your regular household trash and garbage. Don’t worry about doing all of that shopping for garbage bags, just use those. Some say that we should use canvas bags. That’s fine also, but surely we need to dispose of our regular trash and those bags are perfect for that! They’re free, so you don’t even have to try to buy for cheap, just shop and reuse to save your family a few dollars.

Newspapers are great for a lot of things, and during this economy crisis, their usage becomes even more valuable. Newspapers can be used for cleaning things like windows, which can save money on buying those expensive window wipes. Newspaper can be used to absorb odors in things like shoes, food containers, and suitcases. Simply stuff them with crumpled newspaper and enjoy the absence of smell when you are ready to use these items. Plus, you can save money by not having to use dryers sheets for those things or special fabric refreshers.

These are just a few ways to go green and save during this economy crisis. Consider alternative methods of doing things, get “back to nature”, or just don’t use as much energy and other resources, and before you know it you and your family could be enjoying the saving, cost-cutting, and new frugal ways that you have learned. Everyone is looking for ways to get more for less right now, and when you and your family see the change in your finances…you will be glad that you took these simple steps toward going green!
